Through creative expression BAC aims to support the development of connection and shared wellbeing.The Barkly Arts Centre is a community arts space that embraces diversity, enhances cultural identity and community connection through artistic expression.

What kind of programs does the Barkly Arts Centre run?

Barkly Arts Centre (BAC) runs a dynamic program of cross arts projects that engage a wide range of community members in collaborative and individual arts practice. BAC supports the development of emerging artists from culturally diverse communities and facilitates opportunities for established artists to collaborate with western region communities.

 

Barkly Arts Centre programs/projects include:

MASSIVE – Australia’s 1st hip hop choir

For young people from culturally diverse communities

Western Region Indigenous Art Project

A weekly visual art group for indigenous community members

Interwoven

African Women’s Art Project for Day 2 Day Living program clients

Creative Writing and Visual Arts workshops

For Day 2 Day Living program clients

Taster Workshops

Free workshops introducing a wide range of visual art forms

Benchmark

A program of cultural outreach to Railway Reserve park communities

Flow

A textile art project for young African mothers attending the River Nile Learning Centre

New Skin

A multi art form project engaging the communities living, eating and working under the roof of the Barkly Hotel development

Barkly Arts

Centre also has studio and workshop space for community use as well as a community gallery.
