HISTORY OF SHARE
SHARE stands for ‘Sharing Health and Recovery Experiences’ and began its journey in November 2004 as a key project for the Western Region Health Centre Integrated Health Promotion Plan. SHARE has been a collaboration between staff and young consumers of WRHC mental health programs, with its main aim being to decrease the stigma and increase the knowledge and understanding of mental illness for middle level secondary school students. SHARE has been doing this by going into classrooms and presenting students with dramatised personal consumer stories and general information about mental health. These sessions have been loosely based on the ‘Mind Matters’ training modules.
SHARE DVD
As a result of the demand for SHARE from Secondary Schools in western metropolitan Melbourne, the project was successful in securing funding from Western Region Health Centre to produce a DVD. Through the DVD, SHARE has the potential to reach a larger target audience. By utilising the DVD and resources that accompany this, it is hoped that students will gain a better understanding of different types of mental illnesses: the impact experiencing a mental health issue can have on people and the stigma that can be associated with it.You can view the clips below or click on the links to download the clips to your computer.
