How can Counselling Services help?
Western Region Health Centre has a team of qualified counsellors that provide free, short to medium term general counselling services.People see a counsellor for many reasons. Some want to gain understanding or relief from their feelings. Some want to develop new insight or strategies about a situation. Counselling is an opportunity to speak confidentially with an independent, trained person about issues in your life.
Counselling is available from both our Footscray and Braybrook sites.
What sort of problems does counselling address?
Counselling addresses issues such as:
• depression• anxiety and panic attacks
• grief and loss
• stress and relaxation
• family/relationship issues
• separation issues
• other personal issues
Counsellors organise:
• depression and anxiety education groups
Referral is also available to other specialist agencies in the centre including:
• problems with drugs, alcohol and minor tranquillisers
Who can attend?
Priority will be given to people who live in the city of Maribyrnong and surrounding areas. Interpreters will be arranged if needed.
Integrated Family Violence Services (IFVS)
We also have a specific counselling service for women who are experiencing or have experienced family violence. This is a free service covering the entire Western region.

If the Counselling Team is unable to assist you with your situation, or if there is another service that may be more useful or specialised, the Counsellors will assist you with linking in with that agency.

Ashley St until Churchill Ave, then catch Bus 408 from Highpoint which runs up Churchill Ave. From Sunshine take Bus 215 or 220 along Ballarat Rd to Vine St and walk up to Churchill Ave (approx 600m).
