The Older Persons High Rise Support Program (OPHR) was developed to assist tenants residing in high rise estates. WRHC operates two support programs from the Gordon Street flats in Footscray and Floyd Lodge in Williamstown.

The OPHR support program was designed to:

• Ensure isolated and vulnerable tenants have access to support and services
• Support tenants to problem solve issues so that they maximise their independence and safety
• Involve tenants in social and community activities

 

Services and assistance offered by OPHR workers include:

Information and referral to other services including:

• Office of Housing
• Tenant Support Services

Assist tenants with day to day issues including:

• Letter reading and writing
• Filling in forms
• Organise home care help

Medical and Health needs:

• Help organise medical appointments
• Refer to other health services, such as Podiatry and Physiotherapy.

We also run recreational and social groups as well as health programs.

 

Activities Information

Information on what groups and activities are available can usually be found on notices put up in the FOYER and in the COMMUNITY ROOM in the Gordon Street flats and Floyd Lodge.

Current activities include regular morning teas, gardening groups and health promotion programs. If you have any ideas on what other groups will be useful, please tell the OPHR worker.

Workers can be found in their office which is located in the foyer of each building.
