What is the N-W VACP?

The North West Victims Assistance and Counselling Program (N-W VACP) brings together four agencies:

• Moreland Community Health Service
• Western Region Health Centre
• Women’s Health West
• Berry Street Victoria

Together these agencies provide a range of services to people who have experienced or witnessed violent crimes. These crimes include family violence and all forms of assault and murder.

The service aims to promote recovery by providing responses that are accessible and sensitive to diverse needs.

Who can use the program?

Women, men, young people and children who live or work in the North-West Metropolitan Region.

What can the North-West VACP offer?

• Counselling
• Information
• Referrals
• Advocacy
• Practical Assistance
• Court Support
• Assistance with VOCAT
• Community Education

Who is eligible for counselling?

The crime will need to have occurred in Victoria and been reported to police or an Intervention Order issued within the past 12 months.

All other services are available:

• Whether or not the crime has been reported to police
• Whether or not the crime occurred within the previous 12 months

Interpreters are available if required.
